I'm O'er Young To Marry Yet

To tak me frae my mammie yet.

I am my mammie's ae bairn,
Wi' unco folk I weary, Sir,
And lying in a man's bed,
I'm fley'd it make me eerie, Sir.
2.
Hallowmass is come and gane,
The nights are lang in winter, Sir,
And you an' I in ae bed -
In trowth, I dare na venture, Sir!
3.
Fu' loud and shrill the frosty wind
Blaws thro' the leafless timmer, Sir,
But if ye come this gate again,
I'll aulder be gin simmer, Sir.

I Am Too Young To Marry Yet

Chorus
I am too young, I am too young,
I am too young to marry yet!
I am too young, it would be a sin
To take me from my mother yet.

I am my mother's only child,
With strange people I weary (worry), Sir,
And lying in a man's bed,
I am afraid it make me timorous, Sir.

Hallows mass is come and gone,
The nights are long in winter, Sir,
And you and I in one bed -
In truth, I dare not venture, Sir!

Full loud and shrill the frosty wind
Blows through the leafless trees, Sir,
But if you come this gate (way) again,
I will older be come summer, Sir.
