Farewell, dear friend! may guid luck hit you,
And 'mong her favourites admit you!
If e'er Detraction shore to smit you,
May nane believe him!
And onie deil that thinks to get you,
Good Lord, deceive him!

And among her favourites admit you!
If ever Detraction threaten to smite you,
May none believe him!
And any devil that thinks to get you,
Good Lord, deceive him!
