In Muirkirk the Lapraik Committee  are planning a Poets and Pints Evening on Friday 6 June 2008 at the Coach House Inn, Muirkirk, starting at 7.30pm. Ladies are very welcome.  

On Saturday 7 June 2008 at Muirkirk Primary School starting at 10.ooam there is a "Verse" competition involving the school pupils.. Poems will not only be by Robert Burns but by other suitable authors. At 12 noon there will be a lunch at the Coach House Inn and at 1.00pm the Lapraik verse competition will commence for adults.  This will involve reciting the whole of the First Epistle to John Lapraik and the event will be finished by 6.00pm  

On Sunday 8 June about 11.00am there will be a Church Service at the Parish Church involving some of the children following which a walk around Muirkirk will take place with period clad people located at suitable places en route to give the audience recitals.
